Trombonist Lode Smeets has won the audition for principal trombone with philharmonie zuidnederland.

As of September 2017 he will be appointed principal trombone. In 2013, Lode graduated from the bachelor’s degree programme at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Currently he plays with Brussels Philharmonic.
