Prizes for CvA students at Britten Violin Competition

CvA violinists have done very well at the Britten Violin Competition in Zwolle (NL), last weekend.

Maren Bosma (18) won first prize in category 16 -18 years of age. Accompanied by pianist Vital Stahievitch she played a works by Tartini and  Prokofiev. Maren studies with Lex Korff de Gidts in the first year of the bachelor’s degree programme. She was also recently accepted to the prestigious Aspen Music Festival in the US for the summer of 2014. Maren studies with Lex Korff de Gidts and is simultaneously pursuing a bachelor's degree in music theory.  

Haeijin Park (17), won second prize in this category. Accompanied by Jan Hoijting, she played Zigeunerweisen by Sarasate. Haejin studies at the Sweelinck Academy with Johannes Leertouwer. Lisette Carlebur (18) also won second prize with her performance of Tartini's violin concerto and Theme et variations by Messiaen, accompanied by Xenia Evers. She studies at the Sweelinck Academy with Lex Korff de Gidts.
 
Fleur Overbeek (13) won third prize in the category 13-15 years of age. Accompanied by Vital Stahievitch she played Chanson russe by Stravinsky and the Polonaise in D major by Wieniawsky. She also studies at the Sweelinck Academy with Lex Korff de Gidts.
