Dominique Vleeshouwers has been nominated for the AHK Eindwerkprijs 2013 (a graduation prize awarded by the Amsterdam School of the Arts) for his final exam project Kindsoldaat (Child Soldier). Dominique graduated from the bachelor's degree programme in Classical percussion in May 2013 and continues his studies in the master's degree programme.

Kindsoldaat tells the story of Joven, a child soldier from Sierra Leone. With this project Dominique wanted to focus on the tragedy of children who get involved in armed conflicts. It is one of nine exam projects, from different AHK faculties, to have been nominated. The winner will be announced on March 24th. The criteria for nomination are the way in which the student connects with the world outside the arts and the importance of the work in view of the development of the field.
'This project shows social commitment in that it was dedicated to the War Child Foundation,' says Judith Bouwman from the War Child Foundation. 'This makes it possible for us to help even more war children.'
