YUMBA- The Tango Bass Toolbox

Tango is a music genre of oral tradition that relies greatly on verbal agreements and one-on-one learning. After a devastating generational gap of at least 30 years that almost erased all that, musicians of today face the task of bringing the tradition back to life and passing it on to those of tomorrow.

The quality of the recordings from the golden era (40s) is not great and many details go unnoticed. In these de-magnetized tapes lies a whole tradition. I undertook the task of depurating the sound of these recordings, transcribing, interviewing old and new masters and much more.
