Master
In order to be admitted to the master programme at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, candidates should possess a Bachelor of Music diploma.
What if you do not have the right qualifications?
In exceptional cases, the Board of Directors can deviate from the minimum entry requirements. This requires an advanced entrance examination. At the CvA this consists of the entrance exam and an interview.
The first step is to apply before the deadline and take the entrance exam for your principal subject. During your entrance exam it will be determined if you meet the practical and theoretical requirements of a music study at Dutch HBO level. If the entrance exam committee after all the entrance exam rounds has deemed you eligible for a study at the CvA, the placement meetings will take place. These are meetings between the entrance exam committee and the board of directors in which the number of places available for your principal subject will be discussed.
If the outcome is that you are placeable, you will have an interview with the Department Head. Subsequently, the Head will advise the Board of Directors, based on the result of the entrance examinations and the interview. Only then will the Board of Directors make the final decision on your placement.
Please note that the CvA does not offer a so-called 21+ test or another type of ability test. The result of an ability test by another organization or university is not a replacement of the steps listed above.
All programmes have a closing date for application. Check here your application deadline.
