Joachim Junghanss studied jazz and classical piano at Manhattan School of Music, New York, which he later joined as a teacher. He is also an alumnus of Boston Consulting Group (BCG), where he developed and implemented strategies for leading businesses across the globe. He co-founded BCG’s Arts and Culture Core Team, working for cultural institutions all over the world.

As artistic director of Conservatorium Maastricht he improved key strategic developments such as digitalization, programmes, and funding. As Chief Academic Officer at True School of Music in Mumbai he drove the development of the startup academy towards India’s first and foremost music training institution, which recently got governmentally accredited. 
As of 1 September 2021 he is Associate Director/Head of Jazz & Pop Music at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
